Our Story Begins in 1986
Lyle’s Tavern has been a local institution in Maryville, Illinois for nearly four decades—but the history of this building goes back even further. Located at 6204 E. Main Street, our tavern was originally opened by Lyle Reynolds in 1986. He ran it with heart, grit, and a community-first spirit for 13 years until his passing in 2000. Today, his daughter Marilyn Hall and her husband Rich Hall proudly carry on that legacy, having owned and operated Lyle’s for over 25 years.
Inside, you’ll still find echoes of the past—from the vintage bar cabinet that dates back to a photo of Donna’s Tavern in 1937, to the original front door that has welcomed generations of patrons. The building has worn many names—Donna’s, Charlie’s—but the spirit has always been the same: warm, familiar, and full of stories.
A Gathering Place for Generations
At Lyle’s, we’re more than just a bar—we’re a second home for the community. Over the years, we’ve served three generations of regulars. Some of our longtime customers came here in their twenties and now bring their grandkids. We’re proud to have cultivated that kind of loyalty—and we see it every day in the laughter around the bar, the friendships forged over food and drinks, and the familiar faces who make Lyle’s what it is.
And we’re just as proud of our staff. We haven’t had to hire a new bartender in over seven years, and one of our team members has been here for 14. Their dedication, consistency, and care for our guests are a huge part of why people keep coming back.

The kitchen is open 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. every day and we’re constantly cooking up something new.
On weekends, the bar comes alive with local live music. We host bands every Saturday night and are adding Sunday outdoor sets on the patio this spring. With a brand-new walk-in cooler and eight taps, there’s always something cold and fresh ready for your glass.
Gaming, Good Times & Private Events
Looking for more than just dinner and drinks? Head to our gaming lounge with six machines in the back, open since 2022 and growing in popularity. Or join us outside for bags tournaments, Sunday music, and (soon) a brand-new outdoor bar converted from a patio shed.
Lyle’s also hosts private parties and community gatherings. We regularly welcome fire departments, police, and local companies for celebrations and events that turn into tradition.

From the regulars at the corner of the bar to the dedicated crew behind it, Lyle’s Tavern is built on relationships. Rich and Marilyn believe in treating employees like family—so much so that they hosted their team at a beach house in Gulf Shores as a Christmas gift. That spirit of gratitude and togetherness flows through everything we do.
